Like every local commercial radio station in the UK Gold has requirements in respect of its music, news and local content. These requirements are set out in the station format issued by Ofcom, the UK’s radio regulator.

News Bulletin Schedule
Gold broadcasts news bulletins on the hour every hour weekdays and weekends. Additional half hourly bulletins are broadcast on weekdays at 06.30, 07.30, 08.30.

While the majority of Gold's output is automated, all output is produced and presented from the Global studios in Leicester Square, London with the follow exceptions.
Automated programming:
- Weekdays: Midnight > 6am
- Weekdays: 10am > Midnight
- Saturdays: Midnight > 8am
- Saturdays: 4pm > Midnight
- Sundays: Midnight > 8am
- Sundays: 12pm > Midnight

Gold plays the Greatest Hits of All Time from the 60s to the 90s.
Events / Charities support
Gold joins its sister stations at Global Radio - Smooth Radio, Capital, Capital Xtra, Classic FM, Radio X, Heart and LBC - by taking part in Global's Make Some Noise.

Ofcom, the government regulator with responsibilities for local radio, has produced localness guidelines that this station adheres to.
