Toni Tennille, his musical partner and wife for nearly 40 years, was by his side.

Daryl Dragon died of kidney failure in Prescott, Arizona on Wednesday (January 2), his publicist Harlan Boll confirmed.

Dragon and Tennille met in the early 1970s, and quickly began performing together. Tennille sang with Dragon on keyboards.

In 1975, they found success with a cover of the Neil Sedaka-Howard Greenfield song 'Love Will Keep Us Together'. They also had hits with 'Muskrat Love' and 'Do That to Me One More Time', and hosted their own TV variety series from 1976 to 1977.

“He was a brilliant musician with many friends who loved him greatly. I was at my most creative in my life, when I was with him,” Tennille said.

Dragon and Tennille divorced in 2014 after nearly 40 years of marriage, but stayed good friends close.

Tennille said in 2010 that Dragon was suffering from an unspecified neurological condition that gave him hand tremors, which sadly affected his ability to play keyboards. In 2017, Tennille had moved back to Arizona to help care for him.
