RJ also said Bradley Cooper is a candidate for the role of uncle Barry Gibb, adding: "He has been approached and we’ll see."
Robin Gibb’s son RJ has said that the upcoming Bee Gees biopic will document the full story of the band’s success – including the highs and the lows.
“I have had some talks already with possibly Rami Malek to play my dad," RJ said.
"When I saw him play Freddie, he reminded me of my father during the Bee Gees' Massachusetts period .
"I have injected Rami's name into conversations. Nothing is written in stone but I think that would be great."
Film producer Graham King, who worked on Queen's 2018 biographical drama, is working with RJ to develop the new movie.
It's been speculated for months that Bradley Cooper will play Sir Barry Gibb in the band's biopic, after the Daily Mail reported that King had approached the Hollywood actor to star as the singer-songwriter in February.
RJ has also shared his hopes for casting Cooper, adding: "Bradley Cooper is a candidate to play uncle Barry.
"He has been approached and we'll see.”
The upcoming film will apparently follow the three brothers from their arrival from Australia to 1960s London, capturing their ups and downs in the music industry – including how they became legendary disco kings.
"If it were me, I would want everyone to get a full picture of everyone, not only the successes but the pitfalls," RJ said.
Sir Barry Gibb is the only surviving member of the band, following the deaths of twins Maurice (2003) and Robin (2012).
