Remembering Michael Jackson

Around the world fans and celebrities have been remembering the star a year after his death.
Thursday 24th June:
Diversity performed a special medley and a permanent Jackson memorial plaque was unveiled at the Lyric Theatre; the home of Thriller Live.
Friday 25th June:
The actual anniversary; Fans around the world held vigils and events and at 9:30pm fans were asked to do a Minute Moonwalk.

On Friday June 25, ahead of that evening's performance, six of the young boys who have played Michael Jackson in the West End production of THRILLER LIVE - James Anderson, Jean-Mikhael Baque, Kieran Alleyne, Kuan Frye, Mitchell Zhangazha, and MJ Mytton-Sanneh, all aged 11 – 15, joined each other on stage to sing "Speechless – The Tribute" a new single specially recorded for the event. All proceeds from "Speechless – The Tribute" will go to War Child.

- The globally acknowledged King Of Pop performed from the age of seven. He was the lead singer in the hugely successful child disco outfit the Jackson 5, along with his brothers and sisters.
- Known for his childlike personality and wacky lifestyle, Michael Jackson has been a permanent tabloid feature since going solo in 1979 with the number one album 'Off The Wall'.
- 'Thriller', is the biggest selling album of all time.
- Michael became the first entertainer to earn more than $100 million a year, and the first to sell at least 100 million albums outside America.
- He was inducted in the UK Music Hall Of Fame in 2004, and has sold more than 11,311,000 singles.
- Jackson died at the age of 50 on 25 June 2009 just before his 'This is it' tour was due to commence. His death caused worldwide grief.
